Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
How does the product work?
Our solution uses ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to react with chlorine in water. In a redox reaction, ascorbic acid is oxidized to dehydroascorbic acid while converting chlorine into harmless (and tasteless!) chloride ions.
What makes your solution safe to use?
Our formulation is based on food-grade ascorbic acid and filtered water. The amount of vitamin C per dose is well below daily recommended levels, ensuring both safety and nutritional benefit.
Why is it safe to remove chlorine from tap water?
Chlorine is added to municipal water supplies to serve as a powerful disinfectant. It effectively kills bacteria, viruses, and other harmful microorganisms, ensuring the water remains safe as it travels through distribution systems. After it arrives in your bottle, however, the residual chlorine just ruins your taste and is not necessary anymore.
If it’s so simple, why doesn’t the government do something similar?
The chlorine is added to keep the water safe in the pipes. As long as it is in the pipes, the chlorine is needed. That is why it can only added by the consumer afterwards.
How many drops should I use per x amount of water?
On average, we recommend adding two drops of our calibrated solution per half-liter (500 mL) of water. However, the exact amount always depends on the amount of chlorine in the water, which differs from region to region. Best is to try out what suits your taste.
